Exporting Products or Services, have you considered the EMDG?

The Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) program is a key Australian Government financial assistance program for businesses that are currently exporting and those seeking to export for the first time.  The program supports a wide range of industry sectors and products, including inbound tourism and the export of intellectual property and know-how outside Australia.

From 1 July 2021, the EMDG program provides upfront funding certainty so you know how much you will receive during the 2 to 3 years of your grant agreement.    This is a significant improvement on previous programs as you are better able to plan your promotional activities with confidence.

Applications for the EMDG are now open and will close on 30 November 2021.

What grants are available?

Small to medium enterprise (SME) exporters can apply for 3 different grants over 8 years to fund eligible promotional activities.

The available grants are tiered to reflect the different level of support A SME needs as they grow their export markets.

Tier 1: First time exporters

  • 2 years and maximum $40,000 per financial year

Tier 2: Expanding export promotion activities

  • 3 years and maximum $80,000 per financial year

Tier 3: Expanding and strategic shift (for example targeting a new market or a new type of customer)

  • 3 years and maximum $150,000 per financial year
